where should you put a foundation supper ie on top of a 1/2 filled supper or bellow it on top of brood box? please note I have around 100 acres of rape in full flower within a half mile radiusConfused2

Hi Dick, welcome to the forum.

Supers go on top of the broodbox, if one is nearing fullness then stick the new one on top. Im not sure why you would want to add another one at the moment if they are just half way to filling the first one? Are they cramped, maybe thinking of swarming do you think? If so then adding another super to give them more room might be a good idea. Either way it goes on top.

If you have a load of rape seed around you it might be better to harvest the honey you already have now (probably tree pollen honey) and stick two supers on for the rape honey. Ive been told rape honey isnt as nice as the other types. frown

Get your farmers to plant some orchards or wild flowers!! Dude
